Gift Experiences, not Things!
The holiday season is always something I look forward to. It is a time where everyone seems to slow down a bit, and really get their life back in balance. It is so important to be thankful for the blessings in life, and truly sit back and enjoy all the foods with friends and family! It is a time to sit back in the comfiest pajamas and finally allow yourself to relax and unwind. That being said, building up to the well-earned relaxation can be quite a whirlwind!!
If you are like me, you worry about making sure to “check” everything off your list ahead of time so you can just sit and enjoy the time with family. There is nothing worse than running around like crazy at the last minute to find the “perfect” gift for those special people. You want it to reflect how much you care about them and truly make them smile. However, with how fast everything moves now and trying to find a balance with this fast-paced lifestyle, the time for true creativity in gifts becomes almost impossible. The one thing I have transitioned to when it comes to gift giving is to give an “experience.” Let me explain… There are just some people (children or adult) in this world that are TRULY impossible to buy for…am I right? It may be because they are very specific about their hobbies and you would end up getting the wrong thing, or it could be like someone I know(Craig/Dad) who seems to see great holiday deals and buys the one item I actually thought would be amazing for him. Whatever the reason, I’ve come to realize that buying an “experience” for someone is a great gift idea! It could be a concert ticket to a great artist, tickets for the Crayola Factory in Easton, a gift card for dinner and a movie (date night…yay!), or even a night’s stay in a hotel in a new cute town. If you are looking for the smaller gift giving ideas, it could be coupons given for a home cooked meal, a picnic set for a later date, or gift a couple of board games to play together. If it is a gift for grandparents, it could be a craft you and the kids do together for them. You can make a gift they’ll love, and have the quality time with the kiddos! Win, win! To me, the experience gift is more about the thought than just buying something you “hope” they will enjoy. And depending on what you come up with, it may be the gift they remember for years to come!
Whatever your holidays look like, I truly hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and warm!
